    Jason Pottinger

    Chief Executive Officer

    Jason earned an MBA at the Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada specializing in international business & marketing. His undergraduate work was completed at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he earned an economics degree. Jason has negotiated and facilitated numerous investment and partnership agreements with large multi-national corporations. Jason has been involved with many technology companies working on operations, business development and marketing strategies. He is also a former professional football player, seasoned investor and has built several successful businesses.

        Corey Park

        Strategic Advisor

        Mr. Park is a Certified Hedge Fund Professional (CHP), with additional (CHP) certifications at the highest level in Portfolio Analytics and Risk Management. He attended the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business (Leadership and Management) and has served in executive leadership positions for over 20 years. Mr. Park has closed several acquisitions and multimillion-dollar lines of credit from hedge funds; as well as negotiated and / or closed many mergers, strategic partnerships, license and/or sponsored research agreements and joint ventures. He initiated and signed investment agreements totaling more than 25 million for companies he founded. As an experienced practitioner of business strategy, he has read, studied and applied numerous books and countless articles relating to business strategy (According to the Wall Street Journal, the most sought after executive skill set is strategic thinking).

            Todd Doering

            CTO

            Mr. Doering has 9 years of experience in refining, oil and gas production operations, upstream completion fluid treatment, terminal loading/unloading design, ethanol production, polyethylene manufacturing, amine regenerating units, gas to liquids technology, cooling water and chiller systems, polysilicon manufacturing, coal processing, system analysis and troubleshooting, system debottlenecking, PSV scenario development and sizing, hydraulic and fluid flow analysis, and flare systems analysis. His experience includes the full development and detailed design for new process installations; safety systems, including flare system analysis and design; upstream oil and gas waste facility design; polyethylene manufacturing; amine regeneration; sulfur recovery; ethanol production facilities; process hazard analysis (PHA) facilitation and resolution development, including HAZOP/LOPA facilitation; heat exchanger, pump, vessel, distillation, plus various other equipment designs starting at the conceptual stage including feasibility studies and economic analysis all the way to the construction phase. Mr. Doering received his B.S. in chemical engineering at Washington State University.

                Mackenzie Kim

                Director of Business Development

                Mackenzie joined Academic Technology Ventures in 2018 from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), where he structured financial derivative products for the investment banks’ clients and worked on developing strategic initiatives across film, entertainment, technology, and real estate. Prior to MUFG, Mackenzie worked as an Analyst at Harvey & Company, an M&A advisory firm in Newport Beach, California where he evaluated new investment opportunities and supported existing portfolio companies within the distribution and manufacturing space.

                Mackenzie has always had a passion for start-ups and technology innovation, founding his own mobile app and serving as an advisor for a successful Los Angeles based internet marketing start-up. He has also been a guest speaker including most recently presenting a TEDx Talk on the importance of face-to-face communication in a world of technology and social media. After playing soccer semi-professionally for Toronto FC’s Academy team, Mackenzie graduated with honors from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he earned his BBA in Finance with a focus in Entrepreneurship.

                    Richard MacIntosh

                    Technical Advisor

                    Richard MacIntosh has a Mechanical Engineering background with 15+ years of in the energy, aerospace and building/portfolio performance sectors. Currently, Richard is the Energy and Sustainability North American Director for Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions, managing the performance, asset renewal and operating expense for real estate portfolios. Richard’s experience in the building / portfolio management sector includes HVAC and building controls optimization, strategic portfolio scale retrofit/enhancement programs, and optimizing occupant health and productivity. Prior to Richard’s building sector experience, Richard worked within the Aerospace industry, managing the testing, performance and controls of jet engines. Over the last 4 years, Richard has also worked within the academic field, teaching sustainability and design principles to multiple colleges and universities in the Greater Toronto Area. Richard has a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Toronto.

                        Bertrand Carrie

                        Technical Advisor

                        Bertrand Carrie is a Manufacturing Engineer with 8+ years of experience in the manufacturing, quality assurance, and safety certification sectors. Currently, Bertrand works as a Design Engineer in the electric power industry and also as a consultant providing expertise to companies with manufacturing quality engineering. He also has experience with Product improvement, factory audits, Global sourcing practices, testing & inspection and U.S. regulatory compliance.  For 7 years, Bertrand was a Product Quality Engineer for Office Depot’s private brands having traveled annually to China, Vietnam and India to visit, audit or work with factories on product development. Bertrand completed his MS in Manufacturing Engineering and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

                            Dixon Hicks

                            Advisor

                            Dixon Hicks is Mechanical Engineer with 30+ years in the Department of Defense. Currently, Dixon is supporting the United States Navy with his work on the OPNAV staff as a senior analyst for OPNAV N43. He has over 10 years of budget, financial, and program management experience in the U.S. Navy and decades of submarine experience and command of three submarines including major command of USS OHIO (SSGN-726). During this tour, he completed three Western Pacific Deployments where the ship conducted various Special Operations, launched TLAMs, and integrated female submariners. Dixon completed a Masters in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Certificate in Public Policy and Administration from the George Mason University. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Dixon is also a U.S. Navy Veteran. He conducted multiple deployments and has been awarded three Legions of Merit.
